Nabokov Series
Book Design: Vintage Books
Year of Publication: 2009
Notes:
“The brief was to redesign the covers for all of Vladimir Nabokov’s books. Aside from being a great writer, Nabokov was also a passionate butterfly collector. My idea for this series was to have a different designer illustrate each title using a butterfly specimen box that they could fill using only paper and mounting pin.”

Apparently they were so pleased to have Saul Bass doing covers that they dropped the need for the usual grid as well as the Penguin logo.
All Shall Be Well; and All Shall Be Well and All Manner of Things Shall Be Well
Author: Todd Wodicka
Book Design and Illustration: Jamie Keenan
Publisher: Vintage Books
Year of Publication: 2009
Notes:
“As this book was about a medieval reenactor and had the longest title I have ever seen, I decided to squeeze all the text into one manageable block and make good use of my handwriting/drawing style—which, even on a good day, looks like something done by a peasant from the Middle Ages.”

Penguin Classics recently released 20 redesigned book covers in UK and arguably the most gorgeous culinary books I have come across. These illustrated covers designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith depicts the theme or time period of the original publication, from Mrs. Beeton’s The Campaign for Domestic Happiness to Charles Lamb’s A Dissertation Upon Roast Pig and Other Essays. American collectors can purchase these books by October or pre-order here.
